  • Luke 8:22-25
    • 22 Now on one of those days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, "Let us go over to the other side of the lake." So they launched out.
    • 21 But He answered and said to them, "My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.
    • 23 But as they were sailing along He fell asleep;
    • and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger.
    • 24 They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!"
    • And He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became calm.
    • 25 And He said to them, "Where is your faith?" They were fearful and amazed, saying to one another,
    • "Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?"
  • Who then is this?
    • That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the full knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened... (Eph 1:17-18)
  • HIM...not ME
    • Who He is
    • What He can do
    • Not who I am
    • Not what I can do
  • A little science
    • What holds the universe together?
    • 4 basic forces
    • Strong force—holds atoms together
    • Electromagnetic force—holds molecules together
    • Gravity—holds stars, planets, galaxies together
  • Who is Christ?
    • ...His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
    • And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power (Heb 1:2-3)
  • Where is your faith?
  • Who is Christ?
    • For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him.
    • He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together (Col. 1:16-17)
  • Where is your faith?
  • Who is Christ?
    • All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.
    • In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men (John 1:3-4)
  • Where is your faith?
    • So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. (Rom 10:17)
    • Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Heb 11:1)
    • And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him (Heb 1:6)
    • For indeed we have had glad tidings presented to us, even as they also; but the word of the report did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard. (Heb 4:2)
    • However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8)
    • But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Rev 21:8)
  • Two Kinds of Prayer
    • "Master, Master, we are perishing!"
    • And He said to them, "Why are you cowardly, you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. (Matt. 8:26)
    • "For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, 'Go!' and he goes, and to another, 'Come!' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this!' and he does it." (Matt 8:9)
    • Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following, "Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel. (Matt 8:10)
  • "Open the eyes of my heart Lord.
  • I want to see You."
